With 47 students competing in 7 teams, they achieved 3 gold medals, 1 silver medal, 1 bronze medal and 2 placings just below the podium. Kew Speech Competition

The Leader of the Opposition and Member for Kew, Jess Wilson attended school on Thursday, June 11 for the speech competition she runs annually. The competition is open to students in all schools in the Kew electorate. Students must write and present a 3-minute speech on a topic of their choice related to local or global issues. This year, five Year 6 students and five Year 5 students were selected to present their speeches. Topics included pollution, mental health, cost of living, high density housing and bullying. The students all did an outstanding job with the detailed content of their speeches along with how confidently they all spoke to Jess and the audience. Jess was very impressed with the speeches, and she congratulated the students on their wonderful efforts. They were all outstanding ambassadors for GPS. Jess selects one winner from each participating school, with all winners to attend Parliament House later in the year to present their speeches to Jess and those in attendance, for an overall winner to be selected. Thank you to Alex Nitsos for her work assisting the students with their speech writing and coordinating their participation in this event. She was ably assisted by Max Mays.
